I’m a founding member of Web Collective Inc which is an eight-person worker-owned technology cooperative in Seattle. We focus on working with progressive organizations to deliver website and web-based applications. Plone and Django are some of our primary open source tools.

I discovered Zope and Plone in 2001 when trying to find a web-based platform for non-profits that they could easily update. Plone quickly became the staple of my web development company RagingWeb.com. I’m also a co-founder of the Seattle Plone Gathering (with Andrew Burkhalter) which began January 2005.

I was curious about Django a bit before attending Seattle’s initial start-up weekend (January 2008), and suggested we use it to build Skillbit at the event. Django is now a tool we use for projects that require creating an application from scratch (versus projects that require an established CMS platform like Plone).  Leo Shklovskii and I started Django Seattle in June 2009.

I enjoy collaborative sprints where groups of people get together to create and improve open source software.

I’m also working on some personal iPhone projects, while also collaborating with others as part of App Weekend, SURF Incubator, and CloudLasso.
